Aart van de Vaart 2015

A project I started in 2015, with the aim of viewing the world through other eyes of someone from a totally different background, culture and upbringing. Memory is an important element in my work and within this project I want to find his memories but also how the lose of memories (as you age). Aart van de Vaart is an old man, living alone in a small village in the far north of the Netherlands. Using paper bags from the local shop to paint on, giving us a glimpse into his experiences. I then took the images he created and used music from my parents Indian heritage to create a short Flickr film called 'this is life...darling'
